This beautiful back yard overlooks a pond backed by a golf course in an exclusive gated community. As beautiful as it looks,  closer observation reveals that cutting the grass is difficult at best and walking without twisting an ankle is a challenge. We can help.

Getting started, the first thing we do is walk around the yard thoroughly, marking each cypress knee with flourescent paint. We do this so we can see them all during the grinding process. We walk the area with feet turned sideways and walk in strips so that we also find the hard-to-see knees that are covered with grass but still make walking uncomforatble. We do our best to get them all.

Unless the customer requests otherwise, we grind the knees to a depth of about two to three inches below the surface. Cutting to this depth has proven to be a great balance between preserving the health of the tree and giving the customer several years of relief from the hazards that the knees present.

This is what an area looks like after we are finished grinding. There will be shavings and small chunks of severed root left behind mixed with loose dirt. The area is ready to be raked smooth and have the small holes filled with dirt if needed. What is left behind is easily workable by a homeowner or landscaper.
