I have a variety of equipment to handle just about any stump grinding situation. Whether you have a single small palm stump in an elevated garden bed behind a swimming pool or are clearing a lot, I have the machine to do that job!
Having the right tool for a given job is a major part of getting the job right. Sure, you can kill a cockroach with a sledge hammer, but why, when stepping on him (as any New Orleanian would know) will suffice? Likewise, one could eventuallly (in theory anyway) demolish a driveway with a tack hammer, but that would be woefully inefficient. Therefore, I have machines of various sizes from a 100 pound 6 horsepower mini grinder to a behemoth 4500 pound 74 horsepower machine, and a few sizes inbetween. I carry three different machines with me on most days.
If you look closely at this photograph, you can see three of my machines on this trailer. The smallest is the little red one between the smaller yellow machine and the orange tool box.
Vermeer 852. Pictured below, this machine is an all-wheel drive turbocharged workhorse that will power its way through the largest of stumps. It has a reach of up to 24 inches below grade to enable complete destruction of root structures for any project from foundation preperation to swimming pool digouts. The dual main tires come off and the control panel folds in, enabling this machine to pass through a 36 inch opening.
Bobcat MT85 Mini Track Loader. Pictured below, I use ths machine for mulch clean-up on larger jobs where the customer needs the debris removed. Debris removal is not included in the price of a stump grinding job and is only offered as an additional service at an additional cost. It can get through a 36 inch opening and make quik work of scooping away large piles of stump shavings and other small to medium sized debris.
The Vermeer 352. This is the machine I got started with. It is powered by a 35 horsepower turbocharged Diesel engine and has astonishing capabilities for a machine this size. I shredded this huge pecan stump with this machine. The 352 only requires 36 inches of clearance and has a short wheel base enabling it to get into many relatively tight access situations, but still deliver the power to destroy a very large stump in reasonable time. In consideration of the Bible story of David and Golliath, I affectionately call this machine "David."
Pictured below is my Vermeer 252. This uses a 25 horsepower gasoline engine, fits through a 36 inch opening, and being a shorter machine than the 352, it can get into tighter spaces. Also, the grinding wheel is situated such that it easily does close work against structures without damage.
For the jobs that are impossible to access with larger equipment, I've got this little machine pictured below. This is a Toro, much like the smaller of the machines that the box home improvement stores rent out. It isn't the fastest machine in the world, but with it, I can get into tight places where other stump grinding companies often can't. In this photo, I'm grinding a palm stump in an allley in an Uptown New Orleans neighborhood. This customer had called two other companies that couldnt do the job because of the tight access.
